Part I − A Model for Understanding Sub-personalities, Integrating the Theory and Practice of Imagery, Hypnosis, and Gestalt Therapies
This course develops a comprehensive theory of personality, psychopathology, and psychotherapy, integrating the basic concepts and
techniques of state-dependent learning, dissociation, hypnosis, imagery, and gestalt therapy through both didactic discussion and
experiential exercises. Participants learn an integrated method for exploring and healing a variety of psycho-dynamic issues, such that
this model can be used in any psychotherapeutic context and with most diagnoses. Participants learn to efficiently access the
dissociated origins of symptomatology. They also learn how to deal with therapeutic impasses by analyzing a complex ego state
system (multiple hidden and conflicting sub-personalities) and by implementing a variety of effective ego state intervention strategies.
Through experiential exercises participants discover some of their own ego state dynamics. They also have the opportunity to
discuss case examples from their practices.
